The range of prices for time-pieces is astonishing. Nothing in men’s style can be had for so cheap, or, cost so outrageous & soul-shattering expensive. For our purposes here, these guidelines apply to watches in the $30 – $200 range, no matter the movement, Quartz or Mechanical. As always, these are guidelines, not rules, and there will be exceptions. 

Under the Radar Watch Brands – Day 1 – Golana Swiss

When it comes to finding a watch that costs somewhere between $75 – $200, your options can be limited.  Most guys know about Skagen, Citizen, Invicta and Bulova.  And those brands make some damn fine looking watches, but they’re not hitting real high with the unique factor.  We’ve found three that do.

For the next three days you’ll find a different watch brand highlighted right here on Dappered. For each brand, three of their best pieces will be on display.  None of those watches will be over $200.  They’re brands that are easily accessible, but  not widespread.  They’re brands that you don’t see on every guy’s wrist, but could very well find a home on yours.  Nine watches, three brands, 72 hours.

The Golana Watch company was founded in Switzerland, the movement is Swiss Quartz… annnnd that’s about as much Swiss as you’re going to get for under $200.  Not a lot of pure dress watches in the Golana collection, but you can find plenty of models that are sporty yet toned down just enough to wear with a suit.  Both metal and leather bands are offered, and all of their models come in various color combinations.

The Case is metal, the black on black on black is slick, and if it had a different logo/brand name on it, guys would be paying double.  At least.

The Bezel does NOT rotate, but… it has a stopwatch on it.  So unless you’re looking to time two things at once, easily… you’ll be fine.
